Over the past few years, Brooklynite Langhorne Slim has patiently developed a cult following, and for a good reason: he rambling folk tunes evoke a nearly forgotten era of songs that are at home either in the bar or while you're stuck at some kind of crossroads. His latest album, last year's Be Set Free, continues with this style, and it might be his best yet as the singer embraces an expanded, focused sound that puts his best qualities on display.
Saying all of this makes us excited that today we have the pleasure of premiering a video for the title track of Slim's latest album. In this clip from director/animator Sami Lill, we get to follow the life of an office drone who is anything but free, taking orders and getting pushed around in his black-and-white world. Slowly, though, we get to see him reach for a bit of real freedom, but we're not going to spoil how he truly breaks away from the world he knows.
